Holy Family strives to offer three skill levels for each subject. For 2009/2010 we will offer Science, History, and Writing.
Science
High School Biology with labs – using Prentice Hall Biology Textbook
This class may be counted for high school credit, if desired.

Middle School Science with labs – 6th through 8th – using Prentice Hall Science Explorer Series; Astronomy; Cells and Heredity; and Environmental Science along with general science and technology
3rd through 5th – Unit studies using Considering God’s Creation by Eagle’s Wings
Kindergarten through 2nd - using Five in A Row with a Science/Art Emphasis
History
All History classes use the Roman Catholic (RC) History Program - Connecting with History as the basis for study. For 2009/ 2010 we will be using Year 2 (Medieval History). Various books are used depending on the class. The following classes are offered:
High School - Core Text - History of the Church by Scott Hahn. Additional literature books will be assigned throughout the year.
3rd through 8th (8th graders may choose the High school Level) - Core Text - The Old World and America
Kindergarten - 2nd (reading not required)

Writing
High School Composition – 8th and up – A composition class using WriteShop I - An Incremental Writing Program.
Adventures in Writing – 5th – 7th – A fun, creative writing class to teach students the joys of writing. A textbook is not required.
Creative Journal Writing – 1st – 4th – A gentle approach to journal writing using a variety of creative exercises. Students with limited writing skills will do more illustrations and less writing. A textbook is not required.
Additional Classes
Hands on Activities for Kindergarten age children including calendar and weather, puzzles, board games, creative crafts, lego building, etc.
Music and Movement - Preschool - Class is focused on learning about our Catholic Faith through music and movement.
